Melbourne Jet Base to get new facility

Melbourne Jet Base (MJB) is looking to handle more traffic than last year as it expands.

MJB coped with more than 1,000 business jets in 2017. It aims to look after 50% extra traffic during the course of this year. Demand for local printing services can rise when an economy gets a big boost. The Little Group has been involved in aviation in Melbourne since 2014. The hope is that a new fixed based operation (FBO) will take business to another level.

The Little Group is a transport-based conglomerate that is pushing the MJB. John Little is an entrepreneur with significant interests in transportation and property. The chief executive at MJB is Murray Rance, who explained the origins of the current venture:

“It was John’s vision and he said he thinks Melbourne should have a world-class business aviation center.”

Essendon Airport may be closer to the core of Melbourne than the new facility, but night curfews may restrict the future development of Essendon Airport. Rance pointed out that densely populated suburbs are not perfect locations for aviation hubs. However, it may be the case that jet fuel can be purchased cheaply at MJB, which gives it a competitive advantage.

Little Group has no direct investment in the delivery of aircraft maintenance. Nonetheless, a deal with Execujet has been made to take care of the aircraft.
