Milperra film writers can seize opportunity

April 4, 2018 by

Film writers from Milperra and adjacent areas can now apply to build up their talents.

CuriousWorks is behind the initiative in question. Named the Behind Closed Doors (BCD) scheme, it can enable youthful film writers from Western Sydney to get off to a flying start.

Business cards may be used by professionals within the local film sector, since writers and producers in Milperra have networking needs. Industry leader Blake Ayshford has experience of working in the west of Sydney, and told told the Liverpool City Champion:

“We recently shot something in Milperra. I wrote and produced a drama called Fighting Season which will be on Foxtel this year. The community was incredibly helpful and there’s a lot of local talent.”

Ayshford has a track record of creative activity going back two decades. Some of his work has been spent in collaboration with CuriousWorks. He has been motivated by the quality of the output of the organisation.

Hailing from Gosford, Ayshford believes he is able to understand the dilemmas facing creative people who live in suburbs.

Shakthi Shakthidhara is the founder of CuriousWorks. He is searching for local narratives and fresh voices for the future.

Applicants to CuriousWorks must have an appropriate history. People can come from the First Nations community or backgrounds associated with diversity. A wide range of workshops will be made available to the individuals who get through the process.
