Milton offers electronic bike taster session

Cycling Brisbane and the Brisbane City Council are keen to keep residents riding their bikes for as long as possible and to do this, they have organised a taster session for electric bikes.

The council has teamed up with Cycling Brisbane several times before and the two bodies organise regular social rides in different parts of the city. This latest initative sees them offering a come and try session for seniors interested in test-riding electric bikes.

Electric bikes have a motor that will cut in when extra power is needed and feature rechargeable batteries. The distance they can go between charges depends on variables such as the weight being carried, any headwinds and the distance and severity of hills. Claims by bike manufacturers vary from about 30km to 100km between charges.

The session will set out from Electric Bikes Brisbane at 26 Douglas Street in Milton and participants will ride as a group. Those taking part should therefore be confident riders and comfortable riding in a group.

The E-Bike taster will be held on Saturday 1st December from 8:30am-10.30am. There is no charge to participate but hire of the bike will cost $10. Riders should wear sun protection and suitable clothing and bring water. Bike manufacturers often use graphic design and logo design to make their bikes stand out on the streets.
