Mobile service to help Liverpool hear clearly

August 4, 2018 by

Locals in the community of Liverpool will have an opportunity to have a free hearing checkup, with the Australian Hearing bus stopping at the Macquarie Mall, Macquarie Street.

Australian Hearing provides mobile hearing health services with its fleet of 11 buses. The services are free of charge with no booking required.

According to the Liverpool City Council website, Australian Hearing’s mobile service has been in operation since 2009, and has provided more than 40,000 of its free checks during that time, often in remote areas.

Statistics show that six out of ten Australians aged 60 or older are experiencing hearing loss of some form, with many not aware that their hearing is diminishing as they age. These buses not only detect such issues, but can also offer solutions such as headsets and other hearing devices, as well as alert systems to let people know when their doorbell has been pressed.

The mobile bus services will be in Liverpool on August 16 and 17, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. The hearing check is available to all adults aged 26 years and older who visit the bus on the two days.

Those interested should look out for the blue and white bus with the Australian Hearing logo design at the Macquarie Mall for their 20-minute hearing checkup. More information about Australian Hearing can be found on its website.
