Moorabbin hooked in by national fishing celebration

October 6, 2017 by

Karkarook Park in Moorabbin is to be one of several locations in Victoria holding events to mark Gone Fishing Day later this month.

Keen anglers and novices alike will be able take part in a few hours of family-focused fishing at the park, assisted by experts. As with all the events planned statewide on the day, participation will be free and no fishing licence will be needed.

A total of 20 events will be cropping up across the state, with the focal point being a short journey from Moorabbin at Mordialloc Pier. Here, legendary fisherman Rex Hunt will be among those making an appearance, accompanied by Aaron Habgood of radio show Reel Adventures, and Sam Goodwin, who will use his experience on TV show Masterchef to demonstrate and serve some fish dishes.

The three special guests will all be giving out information on how to get the most out of the experience, from getting started right through to cooking and eating catches. No doubt fishing fans will be eager to see if they are offering any promotional products or other giveaways they can get signed by their heroes.

Fishers in Moorabbin should clear a space in their schedule between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 15. More information about this and all other Gone Fishing Day 2017 activities can be found on the state’s website.
