More than just bricks and mortar on offer at building and design show

Anyone looking to build a new home, renovate an existing one, rejuvenate an interior, or simply look at the best of new design and furniture should make a date in their diary for Grand Designs Live, which is taking place this month.

Inspired by the popular television show, hosted by Kevin McCloud, this year is the first time the event has been held in Melbourne and will feature an appearance by McCloud himself.

McCloud will talk each day about the Great Designs program and, on the final day, will discuss some of his favourite projects. Peter Maddison, who hosts Grand Designs Australia, will also be talking about local homeowners featured in the show. Other talks include tips on designing gardens, interior trends and tips for buying and selling houses.

The show is divided into four sections – building, interiors, kitchens, and bathrooms and outdoors. It will feature advice, expert talks, and product displays, where a range of Australian companies will be exhibiting everything from windows and decking to finishing touches, such as pianos and wall decals. An expert advice area offers specialists in a range of fields, including financing a project and furnishing.

Visitors from Epping looking to renovate or redecorate will find many products at special show prices while catalogue printing means anyone who cannot make a decision on the day can take away some ideas to think about.

The show takes place from Friday, September 21 to Sunday, September 23 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. For tickets, visit the Grand Designs Live website.
