Music expert to speak in Rockdale

July 14, 2015 by

Music lovers from Rockdale can find out more about iconic Australian band The Bee Gees at next month’s author talk.

The guest speaker will be Australian author, Jeff Apter, who will be discussing his latest work telling the story of the Gibb brothers.

The book covers the lengthy career enjoyed by the singers but also tells the personal stories of the three brothers and highlights some of the downsides of fame

Apter has been writing books for more than 20 years, with many of his works discussing the lives of popular Australian musicians. His music biographies include Mark Hunter from Dragon, Johnny O'Keefe, and Keith Urban and he chronicled the history of Australian music in his book, ‘Up From Down Under’ in 2013.

Printing companies have reproduced his books in several languages around the world and many are part of the official book collection held by the Rock and Roll Hall of in Fame in the United States.

Copies of Apter’s book about the Gibb brothers will be on sale during the talk and the author will be available to sign copies.

Author talks are being held at Rockdale Town Hall while the library is being refurbished. Apter will be speaking on Thursday, August 20. The event is free, but bookings must be made in advance through the Rockdale library page on the council’s website.
