Narre Warren to celebrate opening of Bunjil Place

The City of Casey will soon open its new municipal building, Bunjil Place. A hub of activity for everything from exhibitions to theatre performances, it will also house an art gallery, a new library and an informal plaza for residents of Narre Warren and other suburbs.

A two day festival has been planned. Anyone who signs up to receive the Bunjil Place newsletter via the website may win tickets for some of the weekend’s events. Food trucks will be on the lawn, music in the plaza, and no doubt many will have made use of flyer printing and business cards.

In the Gallery, an exhibition entitled Designing Bunjil Place will showcase the building process, allowing visitors to follow the architect’s initial ideas from inception to completion. This includes fragments of 3D models and multimedia presentations. The exhibition runs in the Gallery from October 28 until December 3.

Following the opening festival, performances in the new theatre will include the Glenn Miller Orchestra from the USA, comedian Sammy J, and Telling Tales, a theatrical presentation of stories from older residents of Narre Warren.

The festival runs Saturday, October 28, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm, and Sunday, October 29 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Access to the email newsletter and tickets for performances can be found on the Bunjil Place Opening Festival website.
