Singapore Airlines is now flying passengers in the new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on the direct route from Singapore to Perth. With the airlines now operating this new state-of-the-art passenger aircraft, the state government of WA hopes that this will lead to a boost in tourism for Perth and WA in general.

Singapore Airlines, an award-winning airline well known for its golden bird logo design, is the first airline to operate the latest Dreamliner model. The aircraft now provides the airlines the extra capacity of 38,000 seats for the Singapore-Perth route each year.

Based on the number of visitors, Singapore is now the third largest international tourism market in WA. In 2017, approximately 102,000 Singaporean tourists came to WA and spent $220m. This provides a big lift towards WA’s international tourism industry, which has been in much need of such a boost after experiencing a decline in international tourists.

According to Kevin Brown, chief executive of Perth Airport, tourists from Singapore brought in $220 million for the WA economy last year. He also added that the new attractions in Perth and WA will surely attract new tourists to the region.

According to Tourism Minister Paul Papalia, the Boeing Dreamliner will attract more visitors from Singapore to Perth and WA. He further explained that WA ticks the boxes for many Singaporean tourists who desire a destination providing elements such as safety, nature, good food and value for money.
