An indoor facility for the performing arts in Print company in Mona Vale printing services Mona Vale is a step closer to fruition.

The news follows a joint announcement by the Print company in New South Wales printing services New South Wales Minister for Education and Northern Beaches Council Administrator in which permission has been granted to establish a specific arts and performance facility within the grounds of Mona Vale Public School.

The next step in the process, according to Northern Beaches Council Administrator Dick Persson, is to undertake a study to assess the project’s feasability.

The study, he said, will also incorporate a detailed business plan and will be carried out in conjunction with the Department of Education in NSW.

Persson said a Charitable Trust had been established to allow tax-deductible donations to be made towards the venue’s operation and construction.

He added that the Mona Vale Performance Space, to be run by Council, will be open for use by all the area’s schools as well as the wider community, saying:

“The Northern Beaches has a rich heritage of large performance ensembles which continues to this day.”

The need for a space to host performances was identified by Council’s Strategic Reference Group for Arts and Culture.

Persson said the project would include the establishment of a community organisation or trust where the principal purpose will be to use marketing services such as flyers and brochures to promote performing arts, music, literature, film, craft, design, radio and community arts.
