Perth Airport extension may grow local economy

Perth Airport is consulting on a third runway that could impact the prosperity of Midland.

Flight corridors connected with the proposed extension of Perth Airport have been made available to the public. The economy of suburbs like Midland could see a boost if the scheme is approved. A spokesperson for Perth Airport told the Midland Reporter:

“Actual flight paths have not been determined, however a draft Airspace Management plan has been developed which outlines proposed flight corridors for Perth Airport once the new runway is operational.”

The spokesperson confirmed that communications have been sent to over three hundred thousand residents. Brochure printing or flyers can be used to aid the communication process. The Perth Airport team has made a big effort to engage with the public by other means as well. This has involved visiting retail hubs, local council events and community occasions.

Perth Airport is taking any concerns the community may have seriously. An Airport Experience Centre has been opened as part of the communication strategy, so the voices of residents can be heard.

The Perth Airport team is also taking a practical approach to minimise the potential environmental impact of the planned changes. This will entail the deliberate usage of flight paths which are being employed at the moment. Nevertheless, one upshot of a new runway would be that noise levels around the city would be subject to variation.
