Planning for prep underway

Although the school year is only halfway through, staff are already planning for next year’s intake and children beginning school in 2019 should be enrolled by the end of this month.

Many schools use flyer printing to give prospective parents information about their school, and all have websites that parents can check out.

Prospective parents often appreciate the opportunity to visit and look around the local schools before deciding which one they would like their children to attend. Moorabbin has three primary schools – Moorabbin Primary, Southmoor Primary and St Catherine’s Primary. Each school offers tours which can be arranged through a phone call.

Moorabbin Primary is offering incoming prep students three ‘Taste of Prep’ sessions during August to introduce children to different aspects of the curriculum. There will also be Prep Transition sessions in October when children can spend time in class with Prep teachers and experience a variety of specialist programs. While the children are enjoying some class time, there will be morning tea for parents and carers in the staff room.

Southmoor Primary will also offer Prep Transition sessions during Term 4, where the children will have the chance to meet their new classmates and become familiar with their classrooms. There will also be an information session for parents to find out more about the Prep year and have the opportunity to ask the staff any questions they may have.
