Prahran says ‘cheese’ this month

October 24, 2017 by

The ever-popular Prahran Market will soon be hosting its annual Say Cheese festival, in which all things to do with the dairy item will be showcased.

In addition to its regular market exhibitors, the one-day festival will also feature artisan cheesemakers from elsewhere, as well as celebrity appearances, live music and cooking demonstrations.

Events throughout the day include six demonstrations of cooking with cheese, emceed by celebrity chef Tobie Puttock, and featuring a range of guest cooking experts who will share their knowledge and recipes.

There will be several cheese workshops, including three by That’s Amore mozzarella master Giorgio on how to stretch mozzarella. Tickets can also be purchased online for a 12:00 noon masterclass by Australian cheese master Will Studd.

Another attraction will be the carving of a cheese sculpture from a 60 kg block of Warrnambool cheddar. Amid the vibrant atmosphere of a festival such as this, there will no doubt be plenty of evidence of banner printing and promotional products.

Music will be provided during the day by the Oscar Jimenez Duo, the Nicholas Troy trio, and DJ Nico Deoki.

Say Cheese will take place at the Prahran Market on Sunday, October 29, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Will Studd masterclass costs $59.65 and can be booked through Eventbrite. Entrance to the rest of the cheese festival is free.
