Red Cross outlets offering valuable skills training

The Red Cross is providing an opportunity for jobseekers in Welshpool and throughout the City of Canning to gain valuable retail experience as a member of its team of volunteer shop assistants.

Volunteers will be based at the Red Cross Bentley Plaza shop, located on the Albany Highway.

Catherine Marshall, a Red Cross spokeswoman, said the outlet is looking for people who are passionate about fashion, seeking new friends or wishing to gain experience within the retail sector.

She said the work will involve sorting donations and assisting with sales with volunteers needed both behind the scenes and on the floor.

Marshall said the opportunity will give residents an ideal vehicle through which to get involved in the community, build their friendship circle, develop English skills or gain important work experience to help with for future retail sector employment, such as use of POS printing, customer relations, marketing services, and time management.

She said training is provided for all positions on offer and applicants are not required to have previous experience.

The daily work of Red Cross nationally and further afield benefits directly from proceeds raised by the Bentley Red Cross store.

Anyone interested in being a Bentley Red Cross store volunteer can apply by visiting the shop at 14/15, 1140 Albany Highway personally, or by registering their interest online quoting the job number 493960.
