Regional training session kicks off 2015 squash season

March 4, 2015 by

Young squash players from Milperra, New South Wales , have been invited to hone their court skills at a special training session organised by the state’s Junior Academy.

Registered participants will take part in a two-day camp to be held at the Hunter region’s Cardiff Squash Centre.

The off and on-court training sessions will launch the 2015 squash season.

Everyone attending the event will receive assessments and evaluations from Club and Talent Development Coaches, as part of the weekend activities. Healthy lunches and refreshments will be supplied on both days.

The training sessions are the first of a number of Academy Development initiatives planned for 2015. Organisers said there will be a further four regionally based camps held throughout the year, as well as four Silver Tournaments in the Hunter, North Coast, Sydney and Western regions.

A new Squash Australia system of ranking will also be trialled, and eligibility criteria for selection in the State Junior Team will be updated.

Leading up to the 2015 State Championships, players will be required to compete in two Silver Tournaments and One Academy Camp, plus unlimited Bronze Tournaments. To gain state selection, they will also have to play in the State Age Championships (Gold).

Printing services will be kept busy to ensure information on all new initiatives are clearly detailed for the information of players. The training sessions will be held from February 28th to March 1st.
