Residents of Randwick, New South Wales will be surrounded with family-friendly activities to enjoy on Australia Day.

Randwick Mayor Noel DíSouza said the council had gone all out to help people celebrate just how great it is to live in such a wonderful country with an impressive programme of events organised throughout the city.

Signs, banner printing and Australian flags will help residents find many of the events which the mayor said will include everything from free waterslides between 10am and 2pm at Goldstein Reserve to a free Aussie barbecue at Little Bay which will also feature Australia craft and art activities for children, bush dancing lessons and live music.

Mayor DíSouza, who will welcome Australiaís newest citizens and present the Australia Day Community Service Awards at the Prince Henry Centre, said the event holds a special place in his heart because his family had migrated to the country when he was 11 years old.

He said the announcement of community award winners will also provide an ideal opportunity to recognise the valuable contributions made by local groups and individuals.

Former My Kitchen Rules entrants and now popular television chefs Bella and Sammy Jakubiak will be cooking up a storm as official Randwick City Australia Day Ambassadors.

Mayor DíSouza said he hopes everyone will join together to make Australia Day on January 26 in Randwick City an enjoyable and memorable occasion for the entire family.
