Rockingham runs for awareness

Runners and walkers from Rockingham will have a chance to promote awareness for a worthy cause this weekend.

The Anytime Fitness gym group has initiated the 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge, in partnership with Suicide Prevention Australia. The event will promote awareness of this silent killer, as well as raise much-needed funds for helping those affected.

Despite the seriousness of the subject matter, the treadmill challenge is an activity that can involve everyone. Local print companies might provide flyers or banner printing for organisations who wish to sponsor awareness of this worthwhile endeavour, or help to promote it.

The challenge is open to anyone who can move for 15 minutes on a treadmill. The aim is to keep the treadmills running constantly for 24 hours, from Friday evening until Saturday evening. Walkers, runners and even dancers can book a 15-minute slot, pay $15, and keep moving in their allotted time.

The 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge will begin this Friday, July 28, at 6:00 pm AEST, at Rockingham’s Anytime Fitness gym, which can be found at Unit 5, 3-9 Enterprise Way, Rockingham. For those who have friends and families who wish to be involved but who might not manage the treadmill, donations can be made via the Anytime Fitness Everyday Hero website, which also provides more information about the challenge and how to get involved.
