Say `thank you’ with Australia Day Civic Award nomination

October 31, 2017 by

The City of Whitehorse is calling on Mitcham residents to nominate deserving individuals for the annual Australia Day Civic Award.

Whitehorse Councillor Andrew Davenport said the awards provide an opportunity to thank a person who contributes greatly to the community.

This could include a family member, colleague, friend or someone else who could be put forward for the honour of becoming Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year or receiving an award for Community Achievement.

“The awards are open to people live, work, play or study in Whitehorse. They are a wonderful way to acknowledge those who have served the community in a wide range of ways in the past year or over the longer term.”

He said that in the past, award recipients have included people involved in many areas of the community such as volunteers, those who help motivate others, tireless workers for a cause, and others who have seen a need within the community and have set out to find a solution.

Each year printing services are enlisted to produce special certificates to be presented to successful recipients on the day of the awards ceremony, which will be held on January 26, 2018 as part of the Whitehorse Australia Day celebrations.

Cr Davenport urged everyone to be quick to act as nominations will close on November 3 at 5pm.

Nomination forms and further information is available on the Council website.
