Schools celebrate student art in combined exhibition

The creative works of school students from across the city of Wanneroo, including Wangara, will be showcased in a new exhibition at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Gallery.

The venue’s latest exhibition ‘Northern Perspectives’ will also incorporate the artwork of Year 11 and 12 pupils from the cities of Stirling and Joondalup.

According to a spokesman for the organisers, the show has been put together to give children a chance to exhibit their art in a quality public forum while at the same time encouraging them to pursue artistic interests outside the individual schools’ nurturing environments.

To be launched toay and run through until April 8, the 2017 exhibition will showcase 41 entries which, according to the spokesman, will be listed in the catalogues under the categories of textiles, 3D (ceramics and sculpture), mixed media, etching, drawing, painting, wearable art and digital.

Award winners in each category will be announced prior to the exhibition with the People’s Choice Award left for visitors to decide during the showing.

Schools represented at the exhibition will include Wanneroo Secondary College, St Stephen’s School Duncraig, St Stephen’s School Carramar, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, Prendiville Catholic College, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, Perth College and Mindarie Senior College.

Visitors can view the free exhibition from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
