Small businesses can dream big at Victoria’s Small Business Festival

August 4, 2012 by

Victoria’s Small Business Festival, which runs until the end of August, aims to inspire and assist small businesses in the local area. It is run through Small Business Victoria.

Now in its tenth year, the festival focuses on offering practical help and ideas as well as networking opportunities and workshops. Events include conferences, seminars, and even webinars for people who cannot make the actual events.

As well as events for those already in business, the festival will also have plenty of information for people looking to start their own business or work for themselves, such as the Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo, which offers access to franchising experts from around the country. A mobile business centre will also be stationed around the city during the festival with business mentors on hand to offer advice and information.

This year there is a focus on technology and social media, with several seminars on how to market successfully online and build a presence on the internet.

Local businesses can also enter the Small Business Success Awards, which offer radio advertising and business mentoring for the winner. Applications for the awards are open until Monday 20th August.

Business owners from Heathmont looking to take advantage of networking opportunities should make sure their business card printing is done beforehand. The focus on technology and social media at the festival means digital business cards may also be useful.
