Springvale to host big weekend on the camping calendar

October 6, 2017 by

Springvale is expecting an influx of campers over the next few days, with Sandown Racecourse hosting Melbourne Leisurefest 2017.

A key date in the Victoria calendar of those with a fondness for caravans, motorhomes, tents and the general camping experience, the four-day event provides a platform for celebrities, industry experts and exhibitors to cater to those looking to learn more and celebrate their love of camping, perhaps also handing out business cards to promote their services.

A special theme for this year’s event will be a focus on campers with canine companions, with Caravan Industry Association Victoria figures showing that around one in four campers bring their dogs on holiday with them. To that end, special guest Dr. Katrina Warren, a TV vet and expert on travelling with pets, will be giving advice on how to make the camping experience as enjoyable as possible for dogs and humans alike.

Also giving a talk will be former cricketer Merv Hughes. The moustachioed bowler has developed a love of fishing and the outdoors, and will be sharing a variety of angling tips and stories that may put attendees in a good frame of mind for National Gone Fishing Day coming up on October 15.

The event got underway yesterday, but continues 9:30 am to 5:00 pm today and tomorrow, and from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 8. Tickets can be purchased on arrival or booked via the event’s website.
