Sri Lankans in Melbourne to celebrate their heritage and culture

February 2, 2017 by

Visitors and denizens of Melbourne will be treated to what has become an annual festival of fun, food, dance and colour, as the Sri Lankan community celebrates its traditions and customs.

Traditional food and drink will be on offer, with all the spices and condiments that go with them. Live entertainment will be provided by performers who donate their time and talents to the festival, combining both traditional and more modern Sri Lankan music and dance for the pleasure of all.

Other activities will include cooking demonstrations and displays of traditional jewellery, pottery and saris, as well as other arts and crafts by local artists.

Lankan Fest is presented by a number of nonprofit organisations such as Future Foundation for Kids, Sri Lanka Consulate Office in Melbourne and the Rotary Club of Colombo Fort, who have brought the festival to Melbourne each year from 2015.

It is common for banner printing and signs to be used at an event such as this. Promotional products may also be offered, and booklet printing will be used for a souvenir booklet.

Lankan Fest will take place on Sunday, February 26 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm in the Crown Riverwalk which extends along the south edge of the Yarra River from Queensbridge Road to Kingsway. Visitors of all ages are welcome.
