Sunshine Coast to soothe souls with art event

The upcoming annual art show of the Sunshine Coast Art Group is a little different to the average art exhibition.

As might be expected, it will showcase the members creative talents in artworks, textiles, pottery and music, but if the art alone is not sufficient to ‘Soothe the Soul’, visitors will be able enjoy soup from a handcrafted and decorated bowl with some fresh crusty bread, and for $10 the bowl will be theirs to keep. The group has organised some brochure printing to promote the event.

For more than 50 years, the Sunshine Coast Art Group has been a meeting place for creative locals to share the love of their craft. There is a sewing group, which is part of the Australian Sewing Guild, giving members access to tutors, and a national timetable of workshops. All disciplines of painting, oils, pastels, watercolours, portraiture, and life drawing are catered for and all levels of experience are welcome. The pottery section has wheels, kilns and other equipment available for members’ use. Frequent classes, masterclasses and workshops are organised by the group keeping the home base, at 1 William Parker Place in Buderim, busy most days.

The ‘Soup ‘n Soul’ exhibition will be held on July 28 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the group’s gallery. Entry is free and artworks will be for sale.
