A significant increase in the population of Sydney may lead to an uptick in the economy of Milperra.

Suburbs like Milperra could gain from economic growth related to the increasing size of Sydney’s population. A recent report highlighted that Sydney expanded by more than 100,000 people during the course of 2017. Demand for print shops may go up as various economic sectors get a lift.

Professor Phil McManus is based in the geography department of the University of Sydney, and told the Sydney Morning Herald:

“Fitting in 100,000 people every year definitely has its challenges – like where do they work, what are transport links for people, how do we provide a good quality of urban environment for those people and for the other five million people living in Sydney?”

Issues about affordability have affected the dynamism of parts of Sydney. Nevertheless, almost 85,000 immigrants came to the city last year. The population of Leppington, which is to the west of Milperra, has grown by over 260% since 2007. Another exceptional growth district has been the Parramatta area situated to the north of Milperra.

Auburn is another local suburb that has experienced a significant amount of recent immigration. The economic benefits of immigration were mentioned by Dr. Liz Allen, a demographer at Australian National University (ANU, which stressed the need for skilled workers in particular.
