Time to nominate community achievers

Maroondah City Council is seeking nominations for the 2018 Australia Day Awards.

Residents in Print company in Croydon printing services Croydon and throughout the city areas have been invited to nominate deserving people for the titles of Young Citizen and Citizen of the Year along with nominations for Community Event of the Year.

A Council spokesman said the process of nominating an individual or event is simple and provided an ideal opportunity to acknowledge and thank those whose ongoing commitment and hard work contributed so much towards making the area a great place to work, live and enjoy.

He said the Citizen of the Year Award is open to people who are 26 or older on January 26th next year.

Nominees must be between16 and 25 for Young Citizen of the Year. The Community Event of the Year applies to those events held between January 1st, 2017 and December 31st, 2017.

Last year’s Citizen of the Year Award went to Jill Cowie who was recognised for her voluntary work in many areas including the Ringwood Ballet Group, Scouts, Probus and Meals on Wheels to name a few.

She applauded Council and said the community was full of wonderful and deserving people.

On Australia Day, January 26th, 2018, a special Maroondah Awards ceremony at Ringwood Lake will reveal the successful recipients in each category.

Printing services will be used to prepare special certificates to be presented to all nominees on the day.

Nominations close on November 17th, 2017.
