Heath Ledger, Pompeii and dinosaurs will feature in Western Australian Museum exhibitions to be held in venues across the state in spring.

The museum, which has its Collection and Research Centre in Welshpool, will present its Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous exhibition from September

20 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The popular show was originally launched in 2014 and following a tour along Australia’s east coast, now returns featuring additional animatronic creatures, according to a Museum spokesman.

Two days later, Escape from Pompeii: the untold Roman Rescue will open at the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle.

Brochures advertising the exhibition highlight features such as rare artefacts from the Bay of Naples, Herculaneum and Pompeii which include jewellery, gold and household objects plus haunting body casts of some of the eruption victims.

October will see a world exclusive display, mounted in conjunction with the Art Gallery of Western Australia, entitled Heath Ledger: A Life in Pictures.

Alec Coles, WA Museum CEO, said there will be something of interest for everyone in spring’s line-up of exhibitions.

“We are delighted to see the return of our own Dinosaur Discovery exhibition which I know will thrill audiences of all ages,”

Mr. Coles said.

“More than 170,000 visitors enjoyed an amazing experience the last time we showed this exhibition and this year we’ve added some new elements to excite adventurers of all ages.”
