Original artworks from the ‘We All Sleep’ series of books are to be featured at a special exhibition at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre.

Residents from Wangara and throughout the City of Wanneroo are being urged to check out the exhibition during its month run at the venue.

A Council spokesman said ‘We All Sleep’ is the work of Sally Morgan and Ezekiel Kwaymullina who are mother and son.

“The book takes readers on a journey through a typical Australian day in the bush and celebrates the connection between people and animals using lyrical language and opulent colour.”

The spokesman said the journey begins at sunrise and concludes with starlight during which time readers observe the appearance of Australian fauna and flora as they occur.

The book’s original artworks is a much anticipated exhibition advertised on the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre event brochures to take place from July 28 to August 26 in the venue’s Conference Room.

To coincide with Book Week 2017 and the exhibition, a number of free workshops aimed at school groups will also be held at the Wanneroo Library.

“The workshops are aimed at years 1 to 6 and will link with Book Week and National Science week, and offer the opportunity to learn art techniques and hear traditional Aboriginal storytelling."

said the spokesman.

Literacy training notes for We All Sleep are also available with links to science, art and sustainability.
